in teaching reading sessions, we had a session on teaching story telling. all my teaching experience, i haven't tried it before because story telling for me was just taking the book and read for my students which is really very boing for all. Chritina did something different and new to me. she gave us a short story with highlighted lines. she strated reading and each one of us participated with her in reading their lines in turns. it was very interesting. i loved very much. i will apply this way of story telling with younger students i used to teach in many courses. i think they will like too because they are part of the story and they will engaged in it.
litetrature circle is one of the most interesting ways of teaching reading. i uesd it before with my students but it has a different name "Reading Circle" and it has different roles. but for me, the way Christina told us how to apply it, was better than mine. she assinged different roles: we were six and each one has a role and we read different parts from the story and we exchanged all details together. i used it in assigning three or four roles and students read and discuss. the new roles are better because the bigger the number of students, the more interesting it becomes. the idea of engaging all students in reading isn't that easy. and they are reading for a purpose and not only for fun especially the role of the connector. it is important role since they are connecting what they have read into their real life situations. i'm really interseted in applying those new roles in my classes since my students are used to the reading circle activity but in different roles.

hello, this Samar Magdy. I would like to share my erience and reflection on this program. in the beginning i would like to express my happiness and gratitude for being selected to praticipate in the program. before i come here i had my plan to get the most of the program because I know it is my best chance to improve my skills as a teacher and as a faculty member. my goal is to spend each day i have here to learn something new and even if it is not new i would like to observe differnt form classes or our country. my notice from the beginning of the classes is that we are like starting from the beginning. it is like building a pyramid so you have to start with the basics so we can build on it to reach the top which i hope that i could reach during this program.
starting with the theortical part is important for me because i used to teach as a way of improvision and i haven't studied theories and i didn't even know they were there. so i kind of interested in learning those theories. however, the most important thing for me is how to apply those methods in my classes or adapt them.
the first week we spent here was really tough especially after the long flight that we had and the next morning we had to get up at 7am in order to be to start the program. but i enjoyed the cultural activities that we had. the classes i attended with Christina and Gaven we pretty intrersting some of the topics are familiar others were new espcially for the Kahoot and how to use it the classroom was really fun and enjoyable. Also, there was a class with Christina that i loved about how to teach pronuication, i was happy to learn those new activities. most of them were new to me. the most intersting classes i had with Mathewin the second week, i liked the way of teaching it keeps me engaged and fouced all the time.
in the second week we had the class observation with different teachers and professors. actually i didn't get the benefit with most of them espeially those are not in teaching. i know we have to experiece other ways of teaching but for example, there was a lecture to a professor about the disabilities, it was kind of long talk and a typical kind of a lecture. while on the other hand, i attened a lecture with David in career counsling it was pretty cool. i don't know anything about career counsling but i was engaged and involved in the lecture because of his way of teaching.
